PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — A man who police say shot his wife while she taught fifth grade this morning has been found dead inside his home in Portsmouth in southern Ohio.
Authorities surrounded the house following the shooting that happened around 9 this morning at Notre Dame Elementary School. No children were hurt.
Police Chief Charles Horner says the suspect was found dead when officers entered the home around 1:30.
The teacher, Christi Layne, is in critical condition at a hospital in nearby Huntington, West Virginia.
Police believe the shooting is linked to the stabbing of another woman in Portsmouth earlier today. She’s hospitalized in Columbus.
