MANHATTAN — Two New York Emergency Service Unit officers rescued a woman from the East River Wednesday when she was spotted floating near the Manhattan Bridge.
Detective James Coll and Detective Frank Stevens used ropes to lower themselves into the river and swam about 30 feet to retrieve the woman, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The woman, whose name was withheld, was lifted onto a boat and taken to a hospital for evaluation. She is in stable condition, according to the report. It is not clear how or why she got into the water.
