Bad day for bank robber
arrested after failed getaway
[RICHLAND, SC]

Police1 Staff Report
(RICHLAND, S.C.) -- According to police reports, Tuesday was not Christopher James Reese’s day.

His alleged plan to rob the Bank of Ridgeway at 115 McNulty St. netted him nothing but a possible prison sentence.

At about 3 p.m. on Tuesday Reese reportedly entered the bank with a black backpack and a semiautomatic pistol, robbing it of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Unfortunately for Reese, the bank manager was on the phone with Deputy Marion Culp of the Richland County Sheriff’s office. Clup used his walkie-talkie to report the crime.

Things went downhill from there. Reese allegedly dropped the bag of money during his getaway when a dye pack exploded; his accomplices drove off without him; and a truck that deputies say he carjacked crashed, trapping him inside, according to authorities.

Deputies arrested Reese and charged him with armed robbery, two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill, carjacking, two counts of attempted carjacking, possession of a firearm used during a violent crime and unlawful possession of a firearm, sheriff’s spokesman, Joseph Pellicci told The State newspaper.

No one was injured during the robbery or the subsequent car chase.
