Bones of vanished woman discovered
[Whidbey Island, WA]

April 17, 2001
(WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash.) – The identification of bones found on Whidbey Island as those of a woman who vanished nearby more than four years ago leaves investigators with the mystery of how Linda Fisler Moran died.

Dr. Robert Bishop, coroner of Island County, said the cause of death may never be known.

Moran was last seen on Dec. 22, 1996. Her husband reported that she wandered off while he was buying gas and had been disoriented and suicidal for about two weeks previously.

Sheriff’s deputies questioned Bill Moran after the bones were discovered and describe him as a “person of interest” in the case. Moran divorced his wife two years after her disappearance.
