COMMERCE CITY, Colo. A Commerce City police officer was hospitalized briefly after being injured in an accident early Sunday morning.

The officer was southbound on Colorado 2 at 2 a.m. when a westbound vehicle on East 80th Avenue broadsided him, police said.

Both the officer and the 51- year-old driver of the other car were taken to the hospital. The officer, whose name is not being released, was treated for minor injuries and released.

Police released no information on the extent of the other driver’s injuries.
