Sometimes you have to wonder if corporations give any consideration to the ways in which some of their well-intentioned ideas can be used by nefarious individuals for nefarious purposes. Based near Beaverton, Oregon, Nike is one of the most successful brands on the planet — not quite up there with Coke, General Electric, McDonalds, and Disney, but definitely in the Top 25 — so it’s hard to believe that nobody alerted the designers of these shoes of their potential for criminal concealment.
Sure, many people who purchase these “sneakers” will put nothing other than their house key and a couple of bucks in this little compartment, but when you encounter someone you suspect of wrongdoing, be sure to examine this possible concealment area for hidden handcuff keys, narcotics, and/or other contraband.
Many thanks to my newfound “email pen pal” from a large law enforcement agency in the Midwest — he’ll remain nameless in this space until such time as I get his permission to specifically credit him by name — for giving me permission to post this here in the secure, LEOs-only area of Police1.
