(DETROIT) – The past of a man who walked away from an Alabama prison farm more than four decades ago has finally caught up with him.
Robert Cobb was three years into a 14-year sentence for stealing pigs when he escaped in 1957. He stayed out of trouble and avoided contact with police until he was assaulted two weeks ago. When officers visited him at a Detroit hospital to get details of the attack, he told them he was a wanted man.
Cobb was arrested on a fugitive complaint on his release. He now faces return to Alabama.
