SAN PABLO — A 26-year-old man suspected in a domestic violence incident led Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office deputies on a chase along San Pablo Avenue and onto Interstate 80 before finally running out of gas, police said.
Still, that did not stop the suspect from trying to get away. But when he tried to flee the vehicle, a police dog ran him down and he surrendered, police said.
The incident played out shortly after 6:45 p.m. when sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence call. As they were en route, the suspect fled in an unspecified vehicle.
Deputies followed him down San Pablo Avenue and onto eastbound I-80, where the vehicle ran out of gas near the San Pablo Dam Road exit.
The man was arrested on suspicion of evading and domestic violence, police said. They did not identify him.
