CHICAGO - If you see a stranded motorist and it’s Sheree Holliday -- don’t stop.
The Chicago woman has two felony convictions for injuring cops trying to nab her for panhandling on highway ramps. On Friday, she led a U.S. Marshals Service investigator on a wild ride, officials say.
Holliday was standing near a Saturn parked on a Kennedy Expy. ramp in the South Loop, waving her hands for a good samaritan to stop.
Deputy Marshal Richard Walenda pulled up and asked, “What’s going on?” But when he flashed his badge, she jumped in the car and fled, Walenda said.
The State Police alerted him that the Saturn was stolen, so he tailed the car in rush-hour traffic with his lights and siren on.
Holliday allegedly drove the wrong way on downtown streets before she and two passengers bailed near a building at Clinton and Van Buren, where the U.S. Secret Service is headquartered here.
Plainclothes Secret Service agents nabbed Holliday’s two passengers, and Walenda collared Holliday. She was charged with driving on a suspended license, police said. Other charges are possible, Walenda said.
In 2005, Holliday was parked on a Kennedy Expy. ramp in the South Loop when an officer approached her. She gunned the engine, striking the officer and injuring his hand.
She was sentenced to three years in prison, court records show.
In 2003, she injured another officer with a car on an Eisenhower Expy. ramp at Harlem after he approached her because she was panhandling. She received 40 months’ probation for that crime, records show.
“This is a dangerous person -- a seasoned, hardened criminal,” Walenda said.
