DECATUR, Ala. — Authorities in Morgan County have arrested a person who allegedly threw a rock through a window at the jail’s entrance.
The incident happened Monday and was documented on the department’s Facebook page.
“There are many routes that one can take to end up in jail....this is a new one,” the post read.
“A gentleman came to the jail lobby, picked up a rock and smashed our window. Then, opened the door and walked in to be arrested.”
Deputies arrested a 45-year-old Somerville man. He is charged with first-degree criminal mischief.
He was transported “a few feet,” according to the sheriff’s office, and booked into the jail on $10,000 bond.
People on social media began speculating as to his reasons.
“Guess he needed a place to stay outta this heat,” wrote Cyndi Hastings-Elmore.
Shayneah VanWagnen joked, “I’ll do this so I can call in tomorrow.”
“He couldn’t figure out the pull method,” Morgan Reeves speculated.
