PORTLAND — A crowd of angry protesters confronted a group of police early Tuesday morning in downtown Portland, leading to multiple arrests, according to a witness who caught the scene on camera.
According to police, the group had been setting up tents outside Terry Schrunk Plaza when officers asked them to leave. When offers attempted to cite camper Andrew Bennet, 29, for jaywalking, the group of campers became rowdy, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson of the Portland police.
Shortly after, a security guard said about a dozen people showed up to the Portland police station downtown and started banging on the doors with their fists and chains.
