APPLE VALLEY, Calif. — San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Apple Valley station were involved in another shooting Monday, killing a man.

Deputies were called at 10:49 p.m. to the 15000 block of Sago Rd. for a domestic disturbance.

A deputy entered the home and found Frank Hudnall in the living room according to a sheriff’s news release.

The sheriff’s department said that Hudnall, 42 of Apple Valley, argued with the deputy and became uncooperative.

He ran from the deputy down a hallway and into a bedroom closing the door behind him according to the release.

Hudnall emerged from the bedroom with a large Samurai sword over his head and charged the deputy as if he were going to strike him with the medieval weapon, according to sheriff’s officials.

The deputy, fearing for his life, fired his weapon into Hudnall’s upper body stopping the aggressive attack.

Medical personnel responded to the home and pronounced Hudnall dead at the scene.

Homicide Investigators responded and are conducting an investigation.

This shooting followed another officer involved shooting on Sunday in Apple Valley where a deputy discharged his weapon and wounded the victim in a domestic violence case.

That case is currently under investigation as well.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail, Detective Matt Peterson or Sergeant Jon Billings at (909)387-3589.
