ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- A purported gang member has been charged with conspiring to kill a police officer following the result of a year-long investigation, police said.
Freddy Alberto Juarez, 24, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and participation in a criminal street gang. He was arrested Wednesday, police said.
Another individual was also taken into custody. Police are not releasing his name.
The arrest resulted from an investigation that began last year after detectives received information about gang members threatening to kill certain northern Virginia police officers, including an officer from Arlington County.
Juarez is being held without bond. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
