CINCINNATI — An Honor Guard member was reunited with his bagpipes Tuesday after they were stolen.

Hamilton County Police Association Honor Guard Member and Mariemont Officer Steve Watt’s car was broken into Monday night and his bagpipes, Honor Guard uniform, badge, off-duty sidearm, police pins, and two purses were stolen, Fox19 reported.

Watt plays the bagpipes at graveside services for fallen officers. He said the bagpipes and other items were in his vehicle because he had just come from a vigil for a retired law enforcement officer, according to the news station.

The police union, fellow officers, and the FOP were ready to replace Watt’s bagpipes, but a mail carrier found them on the side of the road Tuesday morning.

The bagpipes work fine, Watt told the station.

“They play well, case is torn but that’s the least of my problems,” he said.

Watt was ecstatic to be reunited with his bagpipes. The other items were not recovered, but police are working to locate them.
