LOS ANGELES — Videos and pictures posted on social media last week showed a self-proclaimed anarchist group placing the names of those killed in high-profile officer-involved shootings in the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame Stars, The Washington Post reported.
The artists of a group named Indecline had their faces covered as they replaced celebrities’ names with those of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice and Oscar Grant.
The viral footage is set to a Malcom X speech that followed the 1962 fatal officer-involved shooting of Nation of Islam Officer Ronald Stokes.
“We want an immediate end to this police brutality,” the video says as it pans over the Los Angeles Police Department.

The plates were removed by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
“We recognize that there are people upset about numerous issues and lobbying for change, but we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways than to vandalize a California State landmark,” Leron Gubler, the chamber’s president and chief executive, said in a statement to The Washington Post. “The stars were cleaned up as soon as the vandalism was discovered.”
An LAPD spokesperson told the publication the department did not receive any reports of the vandalism.
In a statement to the news site, Indecline considered their latest operation a success.
“Not to completely discredit Vin Diesel’s Oscar worthy contributions to the world of cinema, but somebody needed to step in and help America refocus its lens on the entity that is literally killing us: American Police Officers,” they said.
The video ends with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter. It has over 9,000 views.
