NEW ORLEANS — A federal grand jury has indicted three current and two former New Orleans police officers in the shooting death of a man and burning of his body after Hurricane Katrina.
The 11-count indictment issued Friday accuses former Officer David Warren, former Lieutenant Robert Italiano and current Lieutenants Dwayne Scheuermann and Travis McCabe and Officer Gregory McRae.
Warren is charged with shooting and killing 31-year-old Henry Glover on Sept. 2, 2005.
Federal prosecutors say Warren was immediately arrested and is in federal custody. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The other defendants face other charges, including obstruction of justice.
