Ill. man hits squad with bat, faces felony charge

He could get up to seven years in prison if convicted of damaging state property

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. — A 21-year-old Arlington Heights man was freed after posting $500 bail Saturday on a felony charge related to damage to an Illinois State Police car with a baseball bat.

According to Rolling Meadows police, Michael Bombick, of the 200 block of South Dunton Avenue, hit the squad car with a baseball bat several times between midnight and 3 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, while the car was parked in a lot at 4700 Kenilworth Drive. The damage was estimated at $1,200.

Cook County Judge Joel L. Greenblatt ordered Bombick, a sophomore at Illinois State University in Bloomington, to comply with random drug testing as a condition of his release.

Bombick is currently on supervision for an unlawful use of weapon arrest.

He faces three to seven years in prison if convicted of the felony criminal damage to state property charge and is due back in court Sept. 15.
