INDIANAPOLIS — The man accused of shooting an Indianapolis police officer in the head will appear before a Marion Superior Court judge this morning.
Brian Reese, 36, will be arraigned on murder and other charges in connection with the July 6 slaying of Clifford Haddix.
Reese also is accused of shooting Indianapolis police officer Jason A. Fishburn in the head Thursday night while trying to evade arrest in the murder case. He has not yet been charged in that shooting.
Fishburn remains heavily sedated, but Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesmen have said he is beginning to show signs of recovery.
Reese’s father, Paul E. Reese, 65, and his girlfriend, Lona Bishop, 24, will also be arraigned this morning on charges stemming from their roles in the robbery and murder of 69-year-old Haddix.
The other two defendants told police that Brian Reese was the only one to enter the house, but the trio communicated via hand-held radios, according to a probable cause affidavit. Paul Reese is charged with felony murder, robbery and burglary. Bishop avoided a murder charge, instead facing one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.
Bishop’s attorney, Martin Solomon, confirmed on Tuesday that Bishop and Brian Reese have a 1-year-old child together.
