CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A motorcycle cop was injured in a motorcade crash Monday while helping escort Melania Trump through Charlotte, North Carolina.
The First Lady was visiting nearby Huntersville for a campaign speech supporting her husband President Trump ahead of Tuesday’s election.
“Throughout this incident, there was no threat to the First Lady or any other personnel in the motorcade,” the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a Twitter post.
The injury collision happened around 3:25 p.m. during the procession on Woodlawn Ave. near South Tryon Street in Charlotte, officials said.
The officer was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Huntersville Police said.
“Thank you to all who have sent prayers and well wishes, we will be sure to pass those along to our officer,” the department said in a Facebook post.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the driver of the other vehicle was injured or received any citations related to the incident.
