Video: Commemorative LE coin built of LEGO bricks

It took almost three weeks and over 90,000 LEGO pieces to complete the unique art installation

WASHINGTON — Everyone loves playing with LEGOs, but would you spend three weeks building a LEGO monument over six feet tall? Well, that’s exactly what a couple of master LEGO builders set out to do.

The unique art installation honoring law enforcement officers will be on display throughout 2021, according to a release from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

The monument – which stands six feet tall, over five feet wide and 5 inches deep – is a giant replica of a commemorative gold coin designed by the U.S. Mint.

The coin, and its LEGO avatar, feature a male and female police officer saluting on the front and a folded American flag on the back.

According to the NLEOMF, LEGO builders Melvin Brown and Jermaine Gardner used over 90,000 LEGO bricks to finish the project. Watch the time-lapse video below:
