AKRON, Ohio — Akron police released a video Wednesday in the hopes of identifying three women who might have talked with the suspect accused in the shooting death last fall of Patrolman Justin Winebrenner.

By midafternoon, thanks to a sharing on social media sites, police sent out a tweet saying that the women have been identified.

Police say the women are not considered suspects, but rather potential witnesses to the Nov. 16 shooting inside Papa Don’s Pub on East Market Street. The women might have had some contact with the suspected gunman inside the bar prior to the shooting, police said.

Kenan Dason Ivery, 35, of Akron is awaiting trial on the capital murder charges.

Police say he was ejected from the bar for misconduct and returned a short time later with a gun. Ivery is accused of shooting and killing Winebrenner as the officer tried to confront the alleged gunman.

Ivery also is accused of shooting and injuring four others inside the club.
