IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. — A California sheriff’s office is mourning the loss of Deputy Anthony Redondo, who was killed in the line of duty on Saturday.
According to KESQ, Redondo was responding to a call in an unmarked patrol car when he collided with another vehicle. Redondo died at the scene.
“This was a young man who had a very bright future in front of him,” said Imperial County Sheriff Ray Loera to KYMA. “Obviously it’s going to be a significant loss to the agency and quite frankly to the community.”
Redondo, 25, had been with the agency for less than a year.
Few details about the crash were immediately released and the incident remains under investigation. Five others were injured, according to the report.
A GoFundMe for Redondo’s family has been created here.
