NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — An on-duty Kentucky officer en route to training was killed in a crash early Wednesday.
The Lexington Herald Ledger reports Officer Burke Rhoads was driving to a training session when a vehicle clipped his cruiser and forced the officer into oncoming traffic. The cruiser then collided into an SUV.
Five people, including the officer, were transported to a local hospital. Rhoads, who was reportedly the only one severely injured in the crash, died while in treatment.
The officer is survived by his wife and three children.
