Duty Death: Edrees Mukhtar - [San Antonio]
By Police1 Staff
SAN ANTONIO — An officer died Saturday after succumbing to injuries sustained three weeks ago when his squad car slid and hit an oncoming pickup truck.
Officer Edrees Mukhtar, 28, was responding to a call when his vehicle hit a wet spot and went out of control, according to ABC 13.
“I think it’s a very harsh reminder, on any occasion when we lose an officer, that life is very fragile,” Police Chief William McManus told My San Antonio, “and it can be gone in an instant.”
The medical examiner ruled the death as complications of multiple blunt force injuries.
Services were held this morning for the officer, who had been with the San Antonio Police Department 19 months.
