RAYMONDVILLE, Texas — A Texas sheriff’s deputy died Friday after losing control of his patrol vehicle.
According to the Valley Morning Star, 52-year-old Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Martinez flipped his patrol car and crashed in a field while returning to work after picking up medication from his home for an illness.
Martinez was cut out of the vehicle and transported to a hospital, where he passed away.
The deputy started work for the Willacy County Sheriff’s Office in January. His law enforcement career also included serving as the police chief of the Raymondville Police Department, according to the report.
