BERWYN, Ill. - A Berwyn police dispatcher accused of sharing confidential police information with local drug dealers and selling criminal history information from a private police database was arrested last week, police officials said Friday.
John Flynn, 29, of Berwyn is charged with one count of official misconduct and one count of bribery, the Cook County state’s attorney’s office said.
Flynn, who has been with the department since 2005, is accused of telling area drug dealers about department operations and police officers’ whereabouts, said Berwyn Police Chief William Kushner. Flynn also was selling private criminal history records, officials said.
Flynn was arrested Feb. 15 outside the police station, 6401 West 31st St., after he sold criminal history records to an undercover police official during a sting operation, officials said. He is being held in the Cook County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.
