LONG BRANCH, N.J. — A New Jersey city has punished eight police officers for sitting in their patrol cars.
Long Branch officials have declined to release the names of the three supervisors and five police officers or to say how they were punished.
Public Safety Director Jason Roebuck tells the Asbury Park Press the department received a letter from a member of the public alleging the officers were not doing their jobs. Roebuck says the officers should have been driving around on patrol and weren’t.
Roebuck says some had been working the midnight shift for a long time and got a little lax.
