NEW YORK — Four NYPD officers were injured after a man hurled a child’s bicycle from a fifth-floor balcony during the arrest of a suspect Sunday.
The New York Post reports police were responding to a report of shots fired when the incident occurred.
As officers were arresting the alleged gunman, 21-year-old Jeanick McVane, two other men — Nicholas Jon, 20, and Samuel Clark, 21 — attempted to stop them.
As an officer deployed a TASER on one of the men, 35-year-old Bryan Jiminez threw a bicycle from a fifth-floor balcony above them.
One officer was treated at the hospital for a gash in his head. The other officers suffered a concussion, a cut forearm, and bruising to the head in the attack.
Jiminez was arrested and charged with four counts of attempted murder of a police officer, according to the report.
A woman was also arrested for obstruction after refusing to open the door to the apartment for police.
NY 1 reports the other men face charges of obstruction and resisting arrest.
