NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A 19-year-old is facing charges of Aggravated Robery with a Deadly Weapon after trying to rob an off-duty Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper.

According to the Metro Police affidavit, around 5:45pm on Sunday, the off-duty trooper met with Danterius Qonzeel Lindsey, who “met with the victim with the intent to purchase a firearm from him. Linsey gave the trooper a fake name and when the two agreed Lindsey would buy the weapon, he “reached into his vehicle and pulled out a revolver.”

That’s when the trooper “pulled out his off duty weapon and pointed it at the defendant ordering him to drop his weapon.” Lindsey backed up and put the revolver on the trunk of his car and tried to flee the scene. The trooper ordered Lindsey to stop and get on the ground. When Metro police responded, they saw the trooper holding Lindsey at gunpoint on the ground. Lindsey was transported to the East Precinct where he refused to speak with a detective and was then taken to booking.
