CHICAGO — A man on parole for a 2010 drug conviction has been charged with the attempted murder of two Chicago police officers, authorities said Thursday.
Daniel Jones, 27, shot the two officers late Monday night as they were intervening in what appeared to be a drug deal, police said. They have both been released from the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.
Jones’s criminal record includes four felony convictions for drug offenses and a 2006 conviction for firearm possession, according to Cook County officials.
He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday, the Chicago Tribune reported.
