HARDIN COUNTY, Texas — A deputy is recovering after being shoot in the face with a crossbow by a suspect Thursday morning.
According to 12 News, the deputy shot 38-year-old Taylor Kyle Shackelford after the man shot the LEO above his left eye with an arrow.
While responding to a call about a request for assistance from the sheriff’s office’s mental health division, the deputy was approached and shot by Shackelford, who came out of his residence with a crossbow. The deputy then shot the man with his service weapon.
The LEO has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
Shackleford is in stable condition under custody at a local hospital.
