INDIANAPOLIS — A naked man stormed an energy plant, struck a worker in the face then tried to choke him with a metal pipe. The surprising attack came after the same man streaked across Indianapolis at 8am on Wednesday morning, hijacked a truck, assaulted the driver and punched a police officer in the face.
Police in Indiana took Gilbert S. Sweazey, 36, into custody after a lengthy chase across state property and city sidewalks for several blocks, court documents said. The suspect did not heed officers’ commands to stop, and eventually ran into traffic, scaring motorists. He then tried to hitch a ride with several people.
The 36-year-old then tried to hijack a Chevy pick-up truck by jumping into the passenger seat and trying to force the driver out. But the truck owner fought the man until police officers arrived and tried to arrest him. When they tried to grab Sweazey, he punched the police officer in the face before he was pepper sprayed.
