A cellphone video taken in the chaotic aftermath of the friendly-fire slaying of Omar Edwards shows a group of cops milling around the mortally wounded off-duty officer, but not one trying to help him.
At the time, the officers on the scene had no idea he was a fellow cop and believed him to be a criminal suspect.
The video was taken by two men who told WABC/Channel 7 they were on East 125th Street on May 28 when Edwards, chasing a suspect he saw breaking into his car, was fatally shot by a cop who misread the armed chase.
Police regulations say officers should wait for medics to arrive to treat injured suspects.
Moments after the video was taken, two Emergency Service cops, who are trained medics, did try to help - and discovered, to their horror, the person they were treating was an officer, sources said. An ambulance arrived soon afterward.
