DUNDALK, Md. — Baltimore County Police say an officer shot a man swinging a butcher knife, striking him on the wrist.
Police said in a news release that officers responding to a report of a suicidal person in Dundalk on Tuesday morning found a man on a wall on the Wise Avenue Bridge with a large butcher knife to his throat.
Police say an officer persuaded the man to get down and put down the knife, but he remained agitated. Police say that a beanbag gun and a stun gun had minimal effect and that when the man swung the knife at officers, one fired, striking the man’s wrist.
The man was taken to a hospital. Police say they don’t have details of his condition. The officer is on routine administrative status during a review.
