TWINSBURG, Ohio — Body cam video was released Friday in the fatal shooting of an armed man who shot and killed his son, WKYC reported.
The Summit County Prosecutors Office found the shooting of 76-year-old Charles Shaw to be legally justified. Charles had just shot his son, 55-year-old Scott Shaw, when police arrived.
Charles ignored commands to drop his weapon. When he cocked his gun and pointed it at officers, they opened fire. Charles was shot in the arm and stomach.
Charles’ wife was hit by bullet fragments as well. Officers tried to resuscitate Scott but were unsuccessful.
A police report obtained by the Associated Press said Charles was upset about his medications and vowed to “do some damage” at a medical facility. Scott was trying to stop his father from leaving with his firearms when Charles shot him.
