HOUSTON — A Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s deputy who was shot seven times in the leg in November is walking again, thanks to multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation.
Deputy Justin Gay was shot at point blank range with a 45 caliber after responding to a disturbance call at a home in the 9000 block of Walnut Glen Drive on Nov. 5. Authorities at the time said Gay attempted to subdue Constantine Argyrion, 38, with a taser, but the man pulled a pistol and fired back at him.
Now, four months later, Gay is walking again.
“Although Deputy Gay is up and walking, his road to recovery will be longer and will require more physical rehabilitation,” Precinct 4 officials wrote in a news release.
The officer receives a paycheck from the county but the Constable’s Office officials said income from his extra job has stopped due to his injuries from the shooting. The agency hosted a fundraiser for Gay and his family on Dec. 4. Donations are still being accepted.
For those interested in making a contribution to the deputy, donations can be mailed to the address of 18482 Kuykendahl Road #191, Spring, Texas 77379. All checks and money orders should be payable to Deputy Justin Gay.
