DANIA BEACH, Fla. — A Broward deputy is recovering from several broken bones after his cruiser was struck from the side by another vehicle early Monday morning, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy, whose name was not released, was trapped behind the steering wheel as a result of the accident that occurred at Stirling Road and Ravenswood Road at about 12:15 a.m.
Dania Beach Fire-Rescue officials freed the deputy and took him to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, where he was treated for several broken bones, said Jim Leljedal, a Broward Sheriff’s spokesman. The officer is expected to recover, he said.
The second driver was also taken to the same hospital, but the person’s condition was unknown, Leljedal said.
Detectives are investigating and authorities have not announced charges.
