LAKE JACKSON, Texas — A case of mistaken identity took place New Year’s Day after police responded to what they believed was a bank robbery in progress.
A group of men were dressed in black while holding unloaded guns outside of a local bank. Unbeknownst to the responding officers, it was a rap group shooting a music video, KPRC reported.
“It was a bad idea with a good reason,” rapper Tru told the news station.
When police arrived on the scene, they thought it was a real bank robbery in progress and told the rappers to get on the ground and drop their weapons.
After they explained to officers what they were doing, no charges were filed and they were released.
The group said they are thankful for police and what they do every day.
“Next time, I promise you we’ll let you know if we’re going to do something like that,” Tru said. “I amend y’all for standing by your badge.”
