SIMI VALLEY, Calif. A Simi Valley officer and his student ride-along aided a woman in delivering a baby at a gas station on Saturday.

According to KABC, a dispatcher received a call indicating that a woman had gone into labor while in transit to the hospital, forcing the woman’s family to pull into a gas station. Officer Kyle Crocker and 16-year-old Kyle Hunter were nearby.

“Jokingly I said, ‘I hope we don’t beat fire there,’ ” Crocker said, according to the Ventura County Star.

Officer Crocker and his ride-along were first on the scene.

While Hunter moved the family into the gas station, Officer Crocker tended to the mother-in-labor, KABC reported.

Officer Crocker delivered the baby shortly before paramedics arrived.

“Fortunately, the baby and mommy are healthy, and that is all I can ask for. I am very relieved,” said Crocker.
