TAMPA, Fla. A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy had his day made by a gift a 4-year-old girl gave him, FOX 13 reported.

Deputy Vreeland posted on Facebook that he was at a gas station when the 4-year-old girl came in with her parents.

“She looked up at me and smiled,” Vreeland wrote. “She handed me a little purple flower and said ‘this is for you.’”

Vreeland wrote he thanked the girl, Harper, for the flower and she replied, “Thank you for protecting me.”

Although it may seem like a simple gesture, it touched Vreeland.

“Something so small and seemingly insignificant to some, absolutely made my day,” Vreeland said on Facebook. “This is why we do what we do, for those moments that are very few and far between.”

He is keeping the flower in his notebook.

The Facebook post has over 7,000 likes.
