WEYMOUTH, Mass. — A Massachusetts officer went above and beyond the call of duty for a mother and her young daughter after a theft.

According the CBS Boston, Shannah Shea was purchasing items January 16 for her daughter Aubrey’s first birthday when she discovered her wallet containing over $300 had been stolen.

After police were called to the store and did not find the wallet or the suspect, an officer, who requested to remain unidentified, covered the $75-worth of items in Shea’s basket.

“He [the officer] said he was expecting a baby in a few weeks – that he was going to be a Dad,” Shea told CBS Boston. “A first time Dad, too.”

The officer’s good deed allowed Aubrey’s party to go on without a hitch.

Shea’s wallet was later discovered discarded – and empty – a few blocks from the store.
