CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A family of six was on their way to a doctor’s appointment when one of their tires blew out on a busy highway. Luckily, a trooper was there to save the day.

According to WBTV, Monica Hines and her family were waiting on the side of the road for AAA when a highway patrol car pulled up behind them. Trooper Colby Pridgen had been passing by and saw that the family needed help.

While removing the flat tire from the car, Pridgen noticed the other tires were also looking worn, according to WBTV.

Pridgen took the family to a tire shop and, with his own money, bought the family a brand-new set of tires. He also treated the family to lunch and a full tank of gas, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol.

“I’m getting ready to get out the car to go pay for the gas he close my door and went to the pump and put his card in and gave us a full tank of gas remind you this man did all of this out of his own pocket,” said Hines in a Facebook post.

Hines thanked the trooper for his help, writing that “God has sent her family an angel,” according to WBTV.
