The Albuquerque Journal

Area residents interested in a career with the New Mexico State Police can take the introductory tests locally this week and talk one-on-one with a recruiter for the law enforcement agency.

Officers Jonathan Tenorio and Elizabeth Whitfield from the Training and Recruiting Bureau will conduct the physical fitness and written testing in Albuquerque at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a news release. Testing will be held at the State Police District Office, 2501 Carlisle NE. Applicants should complete the application at the website in advance, print it out and bring it with them. Reservations are not needed, but applicants should wear clothing suitable for physical exercise.

The physical fitness test will consist of a 1.5-mile run, sit-ups, push-ups, a 300-meter run and a stretch test. Standards are based on the applicant’s gender and age. Those who complete the physical test assessment will also be given a comprehensive reading, writing and mathematics test that day. For more information about the testing, contact the New Mexico State Police Recruiting Division at 800-521-9911.
