STROUD TOWNSHIP
A 26-year-old Stroud Township man was arrested early Sunday, police said, after he fled from a traffic stop at speeds of more than 120 mph, then crashed into a police car after tire spike strips deflated his front tires.
State police at Swiftwater said Glen Theodore Wright Jr., of Forest Road, is charged with aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude police, and drunken driving, along with 11 summary traffic violations. Police said troopers saw Wright driving erratically around 3:20 a.m. on westbound Interstate 80 in Stroud.
Police said Wright fled westbound, exiting in Bartonsville, but then got back on Interstate 80 eastbound and headed toward the Delaware Water Gap bridge. With his two front tires flattened by spike strips, police said Wright rammed a marked state police car and was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
State police were assisted by Stroud Area Regional police and New Jersey State Police.
A police press release said Wright was arraigned before District Judge Michael Muth of East Stroudsburg. Further information was unavailable Monday.
