NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Dash cam video has been released capturing a man’s interference with officers as they surrounded his wife’s vehicle at the end of a pursuit.
According to Live 5 News, police in Charleston attempted to stop Jamelia Logan on January 15 for speeding when the suspect fled and nearly dragged the responding officer along with her vehicle.
Police pursued Logan for a brief time before she pulled into the parking lot of a local pharmacy. As officers surrounded the vehicle, 34-year-old Calvin Logan, the suspect’s husband, exited a nearby car and approached police, claiming to be an officer with the Charleston Police Department.
Officers commanded Calvin Logan to drop to the ground as they continued to move toward Jamelia Logan’s vehicle during the chaotic scene. Jamelia was taken into custody as police contacted the Charleston Police Department and discovered that Calvin was not a certified officer.
Calvin Logan, who has been charged with impersonating a police officer and interfering with police, was hired by the department in September 2014 in a civilian role as an investigative assistant. He was fired following the incident.
Jamelia Logan was charged with speeding, failure to stop for blue lights and siren and resisting arrest while armed with a deadly weapon, according to the report. The weapon charge stems from the suspect nearly dragging the officer.
