CHICAGO — An Illinois state trooper and one other person were hospitalized after a traffic crash in Calumet Heights late Sunday, state police said.

At about 10:50 p.m., the trooper was driving southbound on South Stony Island Avenue near 95th Street, behind Chicago Police Department units that had been responding to a call. The intersection had just been cleared when the trooper’s vehicle entered the intersection and hit the passenger side of a vehicle going west on 95th Street.

The trooper was hospitalized as a precaution, and the other driver went to an area hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police were still investigating the incident as of early Monday.
