NEW SMYRNA, Fla. — A New Smyrna Beach teen was arrested Friday after police say earlier in the week he filmed his own reckless ride on State Road 44 that included two crashes, four vehicle collisions and the 18-year-old getting a helicopter ride to the hospital.
As Robert Charles Kelley IV drove west on S.R. 44 in his father’s red 1994 Honda two-door car, he struck a Toyota sedan shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday near Jungle Road and, after fleeing the scene, Kelley struck a Georgia woman’s SUV at a high rate of speed near Colony Park Road, causing the SUV to hit two other vehicles, according to reports.
Kelley was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center after wrecking, and when he was released the following day, he uploaded a video to YouTube and titled it “Me Driving Like an Idiot,” police said.
