CHICAGO — A handful of Chicago’s finest are even finer thanks to professional makeovers courtesy of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

In a segment airing today on WLS-Channel 7, four female members of the Chicago Police Department are revamped by some of the fashion world’s biggest names, including clothing designer Michael Kors, cosmetics mogul Bobbi Brown and hair guru Orlando Pita.

The lucky candidates went shopping at the Kors boutique on Michigan Avenue during the taping last Thursday before heading back to Harpo Studios in the West Loop for a head-to-toe transformation. “Michael Kors just humbled me when he said he was so proud to give back to people who he felt do so much more than [those in] the world of design,” said CPD veteran Connie Perusich, a 56-year-old detective who works in youth investigations. Kors’ cohorts, she added, shared similar sentiments.

Although Perusich said she’ll likely take some ribbing from colleagues when her new look is revealed before a viewing audience of millions, she’s not concerned. Her daughters (19 and 22) were thrilled by the results and so was she.

Still, while Perusich sports a new hairstyle, she continues to dress conservatively in her male-dominated profession. There’s nothing wrong with showing some femininity, she said, but “you can’t be hippity-hop to the flower shop every day.”
