Dear Police1 Member,

In 2011, the Hawthorne Police Department in Southern California established a meetup event called Coffee with a Cop, with the goal of improving trust and building relationships between police and community members one coffee cup at a time.

Now one of the most successful community oriented policing programs across the country, Coffee with a Cop events are held in all 50 states. If your agency has yet to participate, there is still time to arrange a meet-up with your community members on Wednesday, October 5, the Fifth Annual National Coffee with a Cop Day.

In today’s newsletter, we share how you can launch a coffee with a cop event and listen to Hawthorne Police Sergeant Chris Cognac, part of the team that created the initiative, talk about how these events improve police-community relations.

Stay safe,
