Dear Police1 Member,

Last December, we asked our columnists to share what they thought would be the biggest challenges for SWAT teams in 2021. Here were some of their suggestions:

  • To make sound tactical decisions in the face of significant political pressure from civic leaders, law enforcement leaders, the media and a vocal minority of the public.
  • To review historical calls for service and events that have happened around America to understand current training and equipment needs.
  • To re-evaluate our lesson plans to see if our tactics, techniques and procedures will function in the new environment and if not, modify or seek new and improved field force training.

As we approach the end of this year, we want to hear from you. What do you think will be the biggest challenges for SWAT teams in 2022 regarding training, funding, staffing and tactics? Email editor@police1.com.

Stay safe,

— The Police1 Team
